SOUND DECISIONS · TX, United States
Skills: React, TypeScript, Node.js, Docker
Overview: ARE you a junior software engineer who wants to understand how software actually works, not just how to make it compile? Are you the type of person who reads the stack trace before asking, who wants to know why the system is built the way it is, and who would rather learn from engineers with decades of production scars than from a tutorial? If you are early in your career and craving the kind of environment where you become exceptional rather than merely employed, this could be the opportunity for you.
About Sound Decisions: This position is posted by Sound Decisions Recruiting on behalf of a client. Sound Decisions is a technical recruiting firm led by a software engineer, focused on matching engineering talent with strong teams.
Written From the Perspective of Our Client:
We focus on building highly scalable, reliable merchant payment technologies using the latest, most reliable technologies and engineering practices. We use modern AI tools to accelerate implementation, improve documentation and increase test coverage. AI is an engineering aid, not a substitute for judgment, communication, review or accountability. Our philosophy is explicit: AI exists to make the engineers already here more capable as they grow, and it is judged on whether it does. The core belief is that we grow through great minds, discussions and collaborations, and success is driven through a series of great judgments and decisions by people who love the craft of creating software.
This role exists to give you Silicon Valley startup experience inside a structured, deliberate learning environment: a small senior team, real production scope early, and the time and mentorship to develop into an exceptional engineer. Your purpose in the first year is to develop a great understanding of the craft and excellent debugging skills, so that you become the bulwark between what AI produces and what reaches a customer.
