Skills: Python, Java, SQL, AWS, CI/CD
Who We Are:
At Bandwidth, we shape how the world connects. We're the global communications software company and Tier 1 network operator with global reach. The voice, messaging, and emergency services infrastructure behind the brands and apps you use every day.
Because we own the network we build on, the problems you'll solve here are bigger, more complex, and more impactful. And as communications shifts to AI, we're the infrastructure layer making it possible.
We call ourselves BANDmates because building something this big takes collaboration, different perspectives, and the freedom to bring your authentic self to the table.
We're experts who speak like humans. Ready to build what's next? JoinTheBand
What You'll Do:
Design, build, and operate services that power inbound/outbound call control, BXML processing, webhooks, and real-time media (e.g., WebSocket media streaming, WebRTC endpoints via BRTC). Contribute to APIs and SDKs (REST, webhooks, SDKs across Node, Python, Java, and others) that developers use to build voice applications. Work cross-functionally with product managers, senior engineers, and support teams to ship features like conferencing, TTS/IVR, call recording and transcription, and answering machine detection. Troubleshoot and improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of high-volume, low-latency voice infrastructure. Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and on-call rotations; write tests and documentation to a high bar. Use AI tools effectively across the development lifecycle, holding AI-generated code to the same security, style, and compliance standards as human-written code.
What You Need:
2–4 years of professional software engineering experience, ideally with distributed systems or APIs operating at scale. Proficiency in Java (or a comparable statically typed language) and comfort working with REST APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous/event-driven systems. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar) …truncated… race issues…
