Job Description
Houston Computer Consulting is seeking a capable and detail-oriented Software Engineer II to design, develop, test, and maintain reliable software applications. This role is suited to a software engineering professional who can independently handle development tasks, troubleshoot technical challenges, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
The successful candidate will contribute to application design, feature development, system integration, and performance improvements. You will work with technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective implementations while following established engineering standards and software development best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and services. Implement new features and enhance existing application functionality. Write clean, efficient, reusable, and maintainable code. Develop and integrate APIs, databases, and external software services. Analyze technical requirements and recommend appropriate implementation approaches. Troubleshoot software defects and resolve application performance issues. Create and maintain unit tests and support integration testing. Participate in code reviews and contribute to consistent coding standards. Collaborate with software engineers, analysts, and project stakeholders. Maintain technical documentation and support software releases. Identify opportunities to improve application reliability, security, and scalability.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Professional software development experience appropriate for a mid-level engineering role. Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Java, Python, C, C++, or JavaScript.
