Job Overview
As a Squarespace Developer, you’ll build and improve responsive websites and web applications that help users navigate content, connect with services, and complete e-commerce journeys. You’ll turn wireframes and user flows into polished experiences, balancing visual design, accessibility, search engine optimization (SEO), and reliable functionality. Your impact: Thoughtful, responsive design helps visitors find information and complete tasks across devices.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain Squarespace sites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Sass (SCSS), including custom layouts and integrations. Apply front-end development, user experience (UX), and user interface (UI) principles to create clear, consistent web design. Connect application programming interfaces (APIs) and web services; work with REST (Representational State Transfer), JSON (JavaScript Object Notation), and, where needed, GraphQL or SOAP. Test functionality, troubleshoot issues, manage version control with Git or GitHub, and support software development life cycle (SDLC) practices. Collaborate through Agile software development, Scrum, or Kanban workflows using tools such as Jira or Trello.
Qualifications
Demonstrated web development experience, ideally with Squarespace; familiarity with WordPress or Drupal is a plus. Working knowledge of responsive web design, JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular, and developer tools such as Visual Studio. Familiarity with SQL and databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQLite; exposure to Docker, cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, and continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) is helpful. Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills; able to explain technical choices clearly. Additional exposure to Java, Python, PHP,.NET, Django, Ruby on Rails, or other listed technologies is welcome, but not required.
Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
