Skills that we required
Node.js backend in production — minimum 5 years (Express / NestJS / Fastify)
Redis used in a live project — ask what for: caching, pub/sub, or queues (BullMQ). Must name the project.
Built a real-time feature in production using WebSockets / Socket.IO — e.g. live chat, live notifications, live dashboard, price/order updates. Must name the project and rough concurrent-user count.
Message queue in production — any of RabbitMQ, Kafka, BullMQ, SQS, Azure Service Bus. Ask which one and what it was used for.
MySQL or PostgreSQL — has written indexes / optimised slow queries (not just CRUD) About the Role
You will build and maintain the backend APIs and services behind the exchange: user accounts, trading, wallets, payments and internal tools. These services handle real customer funds and live market data, so clean, tested and secure code matters. You will work with senior backend engineers, front-end developers and QA, and grow into owning services end to end.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain REST and WebSocket APIs in Node.js for user accounts, trading, wallets, payments and internal tools.
Write efficient MySQL/PostgreSQL queries, design tables and manage schema migrations safely.
Use Redis for caching, sessions, pub/sub and background jobs (BullMQ).
Build reliable background jobs for notifications, reports, deposit/withdrawal status updates and scheduled tasks.
Implement secure authentication and authorisation with JWT, plus input validation and rate limiting.
Write unit and integration tests and keep test coverage healthy.
Fix bugs, investigate production issues using logs and monitoring, and ship fixes quickly.
Take part in code reviews, give and receive feedback, and follow team coding standards.
Document APIs (e.g. OpenAPI/Swagger) and work with front-end and QA teams on releases.
