Job Description
Gain America is hiring Mid Level Java Developers to support enterprise-scale New York State and Federal government IT systems. This role is ideal for experienced developers who enjoy working on large, mission-critical applications in highly regulated environments.
You will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining Java-based enterprise applications that support government operations and public services.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and enhance enterprise Java applications for NY State and Federal agencies Collaborate with business analysts, architects, QA, and infrastructure teams Perform code reviews, debugging, performance tuning, and production support Support system modernization, enhancements, and integrations Develop and consume REST/SOAP APIs Follow established SDLC, security, and compliance standards Independently manage complex development tasks with minimal supervision
Required Technical Qualifications
3-5 years of professional Java development experience Strong expertise in Java/J2EE, including Spring or similar frameworks Experience with enterprise web applications and backend services Hands-on experience with databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL Familiarity with Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies Experience with version control and CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, etc.) Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
Prior State or Federal government project experience Background Check and Security Clearance required. Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments Knowledge of security, compliance, or data governance standards Experience mentoring junior developers or providing technical leadership
