Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, enhance and maintain Java-based backend applications and RESTful APIs using Spring Boot or equivalent frameworks. Develop scalable, maintainable and secure microservices following established architecture principles and coding standards. Integrate backend applications with relational and NoSQL databases, including data modelling, query development and transaction management. Build and maintain integrations with messaging and streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka and AWS managed services. Develop application components using appropriate caching, asynchronous processing and error-handling mechanisms. Deploy, configure and troubleshoot backend applications in AWS cloud environments. Work with containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes; exposure to Amazon EKS is an advantage. Implement application logging, metrics and monitoring to support troubleshooting and operational visibility. Write unit, integration and automated tests to ensure code quality, reliability and maintainability. Analyse and resolve application defects, performance issues and production support incidents. Participate in code reviews, technical discussions and continuous improvement activities.
