The experience line is a filter, not a rule. How to read “0–2”, “0–3”, “1+” and “2–4” before you spend an hour on an application.
Experience bands look precise and are not. They are written quickly and applied by humans with judgement, so the band tells you who the role was written for, not who is allowed to apply.
The role is explicitly for people without work experience. Internships, new-grad programmes and campus hiring usually land here. Apply without hesitation; your degree, projects and internships are the evidence.
The role is fresher-friendly but not fresher-only. A strong portfolio, an internship and a relevant project can carry you past a candidate with one year of unrelated experience. Apply.
The same, with more room. If the rest of the posting reads junior — “SDE-1”, “associate”, “entry level” — treat it as a fresher role.
The team expects to pay for experience and will filter on it. Applying is not forbidden, but spend your time where the band includes you. “5+ years” is not a fresher role, whatever the rest of the page says.
A posting can ask for “0–2 years” and then list a stack nobody has used for only two years. That is a wishlist, not a filter. Match the level, accept that the stack list is aspirational, and apply.
